    Problem with remote access to gdm

    Hi, I'm a long time reader, first time poster

    I'm having trouble remotely accessing gdm from one particular computer on my network.

    The problem first started after I lost my network connection in mid-session. I was making changes to the dhclient config at the time but i don't think the dhcp settings are the cause.

    When I try to connect from the problem computer I see the blank Xserver canvas but nothing else appears to happen. I can see from the log files that the connection attempt starts OK but seems to get caught in some kind of loop. I've included /var/log/daemon.log for a successful and unsucessful connection attempt below.

    EDIT: I've just found out that if I change the IP address of the problem Xserver computer I get a connection. Why is gdm not letting me connect from one particular IP? I'm now convinced that this has to do with loosing the network connection while I was in the middle of a session.

    The gdm computer is running Ubuntu 6.0.6 Desktop
    The Xserver computers are running Windows XP and Xming 6.9.0.11
    No firewalls are active on any of the computers.

    If anyone can help me out with this I'd be very grateful. I've been trying to get this fixed for three days now and it's driving me nuts!

    This might be a lookup issue.

    Check on the remote system whether both forward and reverse lookup are pointing same client IP.

    If it is different, the add client system's IP in /etc/hosts file.
