gmail crashes firefox 1.5.0.6
Hi all-
I'm running Fedora Core 4 (kernel 2.6.17-1.2142_FC4) on Averatec 3200 laptop (1.67 GHz AMD Athlon XP-M, 1 GB RAM), and
I've been having this problem recently...when I log into my gmail account, firefox 1.5.0.6 crashes all instances. When run from the command line, the following error message is displayed:
The program 'Gecko' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
(Details: serial 116 error_code 8 request_code 146 minor_code 3)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
I'm still kind of a noob, and I'd really appreciate some help. Btw, the same error is encountered in Epiphany, but Konqueror works fine. Thanks in advance !

Yeah, gmail crashes firefox on me sometimes as well. I kinda switch back and forth between seamonkey and firefox because of this.
I'd like to know if there's a solution to this as well...Two levels higher than a newb.

Dark_Stang-
Does it crash on you *sometimes* or *all the time* ?
At first I thought it was a problem with the Gmail notifier extension I downloaded, but it
crashes on me even when i log in normally (without the notifier)...
*Any* thoughts/suggestions/ideas are more than welcome!!!

Well, I just checked my gmail now and it's okay. It only happenes sometimes when I'm just checking the mail. But if I ever try to talk to anybody with the gchat or whatever it's called. It crashes within the first few moments.

Try re-installing or try another web browser. You have a few options out there. Or you could wait for the official release of Firefox 2.0

I have no issues at all with Firefox 2.0 beta 2 here. Been working like a dream. I had major issues with Firefox 1.5 like eating 400mb of ram, crashing randomly, locking up my system randomly, crashing and/or locking up system when having 5+ tabs open. But since I went to Firefox 2.0 beta1 and beta2 I've had 0 issues with it and runs 60% faster and renders 80% faster over 1.5.
Over all, 1.5 was and still is crap lol.

Using firefox 2.0 B2 now. Unfortunately there is nobody to talk to on gchat (or whater it's called) so I can't test it out. But if you don't feel like using a beta there are always...
SeaMonkey
Opera
Konqueror
And probably a lot more that I don't know about. Two levels higher than a newb.
