    X Server Won't Start

Ok so I wanted to install XGL on my Ubuntu 6.06

    Specs
    AMD Athlon 63 3000+
    1GB of Ram
    ATI Radeon 9700 pro

I installed the drivers with this tutorial

    http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubu...allation_Guide

Worked fine, then I followed this guide to complete the process.

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=268036

I Updated the kernel and installed XGL and Beryl. I completed the process and restarted. and when Ubuntu boots it gives me an error saying my Xserver failed to start, and is probably not configured correctly. So I can view the log to diagnose the problem or go to command line.

My question is: how do I correct the problem by either getting the xgl/beryl server to work or revert to a standard gnome?
