how to make fonts thinner, sharper nd crisp

Hi,
I installed redhat enterprise 3.0 and I am using gnome desktop

I am not able make fonts look thinner, sharper and crisp
even though I installed true type fonts

actually I did 90/90 dopts per inch and set the resoltion 1280/1024

do i need to change the video adoper for this or do i need to do any configuartion changes

Any help is really appreciated

Applications->Preferences->Fonts

Make sure that antialiasing is on and try tweaking the settings. Unfortunately, the default Sans font that comes with Redhat distros is sort of thick (and ugly, IMO - I prefer the ones for SuSE 9.1 and Slackware).
