Fast KDE/Gnome Desktop
Hi!
Do you know any kde or gnome based distro that are lightening fast?
I tried mepis and some others but as I have only 128RAM it's kinda crappy.
I want a fast desktop, with all of features, excluding bells and whistles...
I dont want no xfce, fluxbox, Xfce is really nice. But I love KDE better than XFCE...
So I dont think that Gnome can be fast, but KDE could be fast, I think...
I want a nice desktop, with the speed of my window$ desktop...
And I want amaroK!!!!!
Yeah so thats it, Tell me some nice distros... I tried so much of them, without having fun because of my lack of memory.. Make me happy!
Thanks!
Ciao!

Performance of KDE or anyother Desktop Manager doesn't differ in distros. you can tweak KDE for fast performance. there are a lot services run in background that a Desktop PC user dont use or need. stop those services.
CasperIt is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Could you give me an example of all those tweaks and services that I could stop?

Right, it also depends on what you're doing with it. If you don't have a printer, for example, you can stop cups. If you want, just post a list of startup services when you've got Kubuntu running and I can look at them.
