looking for a x session that simulates linux on a windows machine

hey I am looking for an app for windows that will simulate a linux session on a windows machine that will let me log into my linux lab. I use ssh secure shell, but that doesn't give you the linux desktop, it just gives the command prompt. I am looking for something that gives the linux desktop. Not sure if it matters but I am logging into a debian machine.

hey I tried that app but unfortunately it seems like the lab machines at my school need some option allowed can't remember what it was, but I was wondering if there were any other applications out there that do the same thing?

That's the one that gets most widely used on Linux servers. The only alternative I can see that runs on Linux is NX. You might need to check what the lab's server is running, and what credentials you need to log in.
