Making gnome-terminal have 80 lines on startup
I use many terminal windows while working. For example I use mutt for my mailer. I use gnome-terminal since I like the tabs and I use gnome as my desktop.
I can set the font and the color by changing my preferences for the profile. These are them preserved between sessions.
I like a 80 column by 40 line terminal and I cannot find a way of permanently setting it. I can resize the window with the mouse, but the next time I log in I find 80x25 terminals.
I have accidently gotten a terminal to save the size, but I am not sure how I did it. I have set "save changes to session" in the session control panel.
I have Fedora Core 1 with gnome 2.4 and gnome-terminal is 2.4.0.1. I have looked for a command line options or X resources that could set this but I have not found them.
