GNOME 2.6 and automatically mounting drives

alright, I used Fedora Core 1 with GNOME 2.4 for a little bit before FC2 came out with GNOME 2.6, and I though I remembered a way to configure which drives display a desktop icon when they are mounted, such as cdrom, floppy, and hard drive partitions i added to fstab myself, ie a vfat storage partition. is there such a way to configure gnome to add those icons in 2.6, or am I crazy?
