How to change the background colour of evince ?

When I use evince I get a white background which I find rather tiring. Is there a way to change the colour of the background ? If there isn't a way can you recommend some other document viewer(s) for PDF , Postscript , DVI etc. which offer this capability or at least a gray background as a default ?

Come on , surely there must be other people who view PDF files and don't like a white background.

kpdf allows you to alter the colors as does .. xpdf! With "xpdf -rv file.pdf" the colors are reversed, so the background (typically) becomes black. With this discovery, and with puppyLinux's "pburn" being a good substitute for k3b, I can forego the loading of many megabytes ... .
