X Server Black Screen on Startup
I am relatively new to the *nix scene and I ran into some problems when I tried to use the open source ATI drivers so I could play with Compiz.
I have the drivers installed, all required kernel modules loading on startup, and Xorg is configured to use radeon. But now when GDM starts up (daemon in rc.conf) the screen goes black and I can't get it back.
I have tried to shutdown X with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, and I have also tried Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get to a shell. Neither do anything.
The only reason I am even able to post this now is because I have Arch, and Windoze dual booting on this box.
Please any help I would greatly appreciate.
I am having another minor issue with the resolution of the tty shell after shutting down the X server, but that's really not important considering I can't even get the server to shutdown. Although help with this issue would be greatly appreciated as well.
