Beryl AIGLX i810 Debian Etch - Black Borders?
Hi,
I have installed beryl on Debian Etch using AIGLX with an Intel i810 card.
All works fine when the Window Manager is set to Metacity (I'm running Gnome).
When I change the window manager to Beryl, everything works ok, but I have a black frame around all my windows, dialogues, menus etc.

I have Googled and searched forums everywhere, but the closest thing I can find is the NVidia Black Window bug.......
I know it must be something simple, but I just cannot work out what.....when I was previously running Ubuntu 6.10, Beryl worked flawlessly, but I have been using Debian Etch since it's release, and I much prefer the Debian stability.....
Can anyone help me solve my black borders problem?
Thanks.

Buffers Issue?
Ok, I am thinking it may be an issue with buffers of some sort.....
It seems like when a window is opened, the system needs to store the desktop image behind that window, so for example, it stores an area say 400 x 400 pixels and then the window opens but it is only 380 x 380 pixels, leaving a black frame.....
If anyone has any ideas.......

Ok,
I have discovered the problem, just not sure how to fix it.
The black frames are actually the shadows set in the beryl themes.
They are supposed to be transparent to some degree.
I tested this by turning on the cube transparency effects and also setting windows to fade in and out on minimize and maximize.
My problem is transparency is not working!
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Here is my xorg.conf (irrelevant sections removed) - I think the problem may lie here!

Bug Maybe?
Ok, I never did find a solution to my problem.
It could quite possibly have been a bug (installed beryl from the Debian Unstable repository).
But I am happy now, removed beryl and i am now running an XFCE4 desktop which has compositing built in, and all transparency effects are working perfectly.
And no need to install AWN (I suffered major dependency problems anyway) as the XFCE4 panels work exactly the way I want them.
Score XFCE 1 : Beryl + Awn 0.
