    KDE-problem



    Hello I am a newbie to Linux. I am using Mandriva. The problem is whenever I startx as root I am just getting the K menu and nothing more else on the desktop But when I login as a normal user I am able to get a Fully loaded KDE. I dont know wat has gone wrong help me to solve this problem.

    For security reasons, you should never log in as root. Just use your regular account access, and when you need to do something with root permissions, open a Konsole and enter:

    su
    password
    oz

    Thanks OZAR for your reply. Even Now I am using a normal account only. But I want to figure out what mistake I have done while Playin around with ROOT s X-windows. I just want to put back Roots X as It was Before that is a completely loaded KDE.

    If I remember correctly, the root account is disabled by default in later versions of KDE. Maybe someone will correct me if that's wrong, or perhaps they can provide additional information.
