Cant start X on old Dell

My room mate is trying to use an old Dell he has as a print server. After much twisting his arm, I was able to convince him to go with Debian, which, I would install. I used a 5.0.4 Net Install CD I had, and included Desktop Environment (he needs a GUI), and Print Server. Basically, as usually happens when I install Debian, I am having trouble getting X to work. Heres what the errors look like after X fails:

Well, any help with this would be great. Just trying to bring another Linux box into this world.

Which driver are you using in xorg.conf file? Try "vesa" driver and supported Refresh Rates.

I changed the driver to vesa, and the GUI is working now. Actually, everything seems pretty slow, I think the video chipset is quite weak. I may opt to go with XFCE, but after the computer is fully setup as a print server, there will likely be little interaction with it.
