Computer freezes when exiting X...
Well, like the title says, my computer freezes when exiting X: logging out, restarting, shutting down, etc. But I can do CTRL+ALT+F# perfectly fine without any issue. It's only when I exit X I have a problem. The window manager also makes no difference as I've tried a few different ones now with the same result.
I recently updated my kernel (and made it as small as possible), but it was also doing this before I updated. At first I though it was the APM and ACPI options in the kernel, so I enabled most of them (or what I saw was needed) and that got rid of the problem for a few hours, but it started happening again :?. I haven't done anything to the kernel since then though....
Actually, I believe it started happening soon after reinstalling the ATI drivers (I use the auto installer from the ATI site). I found that you have to reinstall them after each new kernel, and so I did. The drivers work perfectly in X (full 3D enabled), but it seems like this problem might have started occuring becasue of the drivers...
Can someone help me with this? ....give some advice maybe?
Thanks in advance....I'd really like to get this fixed :D
