Linux Fancy Visuals
what programs can make linux look way way way! better then Vista?
I want the mac buttons on the bottom but dunno what its called.
I know I want: Compiz Fusion
the effects i want (transparency, shaky screen, mac icons on bottom, rotating cube)
Also what distro is the best looking? I really like Suse and Fedora Core, and Ubuntu with KDE. I like KDE on everything, I'm a windows guy so yeah.
Thanks
*actually I think im gonna go with SUSE 10.3KDE, and is there a way to make the toolbar disappear when you move your mouse away from it, adn reappear when you move your mouse back down to the bottom?*
YouTube - Compiz Fusion + openSUSE 10.3
or can i make the toolbar transparent liek this video?
YouTube - Compiz Fusion on SuSE 10.3
I like all the stuff there. I just grab me a extremly insanely sweet desktop background and be happy.*

You can install/enable desktop effects in any distro. You have to do a little tweaking only.
Which Graphics Card do you have? Post your Machine's specs here.
-
Specs of machine it will be running on:
CPU: AMD 1.3 GHZ Socket A
RAM: 640MB PC 100
VGC: Nvidia 5500 256mb VRAM AGP 4/8x
HDD: 80 GB ATA 133
yep its a old old system, but i think it should be able to handle it.
-
It will definitely handle 3D effects. If you prefer KDE only then go for Kubuntu. It has K Desktop Environment. Install Ubuntu Restrictive Driver through Adept or Add/Remove Programs in Kubuntu and install compiz after that.

Alright sweet, thanks perfect timing as well. Thanks man.
*NOTES* I'll be able to install WINE easily along Kubuntu right?
-
Yes. Wine is available in Kubuntu sources.
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wine
Above commands will install wine without any problem. Your machine must have internet access for that though.

ahh you've been great. but you know the difference between DVD and CD version of Kubuntu 7.10? I don't recall Ubuntu having the DVD version..
-
DVD has lot more packages than regular Kubuntu CD. If you dont have fast internet connection then go for CD only.
I prefer Kubuntu CD over DVD. You wont need all the packages available in DVD and its pretty easy to install necessary packages through apt-get or Adept.

Ahh, cool won't waste as much time now. Thanks again. For The Best
