problems with images

hello,

I am using linux as my server and i am running on text mode so i don't have the Server X installed.
My programs are cgis and i got some problems with one because it doesn't work without the Server X. Maybe because the program creates maps of countries or cities as an image format. I am using on the font the uses QGraphics.

When i have the Server X i need to run the command xhost local:apache(this is my web my server) to do this work well.

i heard about the gd library but i didn't undestand very well. i think it isn't possible to use it with a cgi program.

I would be gratefull for some help
