[SOLVED] update manager help

I attempted to install a package i downloaded and a message keeps poppin up saying only one software management tool allowed to run at one time. It suggested i close my update manager or aptitude or synaptic first and far as i know i dont have anything running at this time. I really confused and new to linux so please help

Updater runs in background by default. Check if any Updater Icon available on top or bottom panel. Exit Updater before using Synaptic.

now when i try to install my updates its showing up error you must manually run 'dpkg--configure-a' what does that mean and how do i do that

Open Terminal and execute this
