Video Card not supported
After I installed a new video card and booted up SUSE 10, it sayed that either X was messed up or my video card was not supported. I also reinstalled Linux and I got the same problem. I upgraded from an ATI 8500 to an EVGA Ge-Force 6600. I thought nvidea video cards were better in Linux. What's the problem.
I have no experience with that card so can't say for sure, but you'll probably need to use a generic driver until you can get the nvidia drivers installed. Nvidia cards do have pretty good support under Linux, though.
SuSE does not auto-configure or auto-install the Nvidia drivers for you. You must download them either from the Yast Online Update tool, or from Nvidia's website:
You can follow my tutorial as well, but omit the part where you must edit your Xorg.conf. As of version 8178, the Nvidia install script will edit that file for you.
I have Gigabyte's GeForce 6600GT and it worx fine on SUSE 10.
