xcompmgr and problems with GNOME?
So, I've been trying to get xcompmgr working on my computer. Under fluxbox, so far it works very well with minimal slowdown(with some problems with mplayer though).
Under GNOME though, it's a whole different story. Upon starting GNOME, I can see some hard edged shadows on the panels and windows, even though xcompmgr isn't running. When I try to start xcompmgr, I get an error saying that there is already another composite manager running. Running `ps -e` doesn't show me anything related to composite managers (to the best of my knowledge), neither does `top`. Usually after a while, GNOME just quits saying that a bunch of programs lost their connection to display :0.0
So, does anyone know what program is acting as a composite manager? Or what is causing gnome to just crash like that?
I'm using FC4 with an nVidia graphics card
Part of my xorg.conf:
I'll try to post some ps -e output if GNOME stops crashing long enough. Thanks!
