changed my desktop colors to 24 bit ... and once i restarted Red Hat 8.0 i recieve error that X cant start but it made a backup file callled /etc/X11/XF86Config.backup???? do anyone know how to run the backup file????? what commands to type in root????
I deleted the XF86Config file and and with the rename (which is Rename not mv) command renamed XF86Config.backup into XF86Config... I then following someone's direction from another forum typed init 5 at the promp while i was in the directory ??? I am still unable to configure the resolution back to the way it was???
the mv command can rename a file...
mv file1 file2
just renames file1 to file2
the rename command just has many more uses...
read my post on your original topic, glad you got the forum right, even if you are double posting...
