FreeBSD 6.2 from CD VERY slow install

Hi, I'm installing FreeBSD 6.2 on a fast desktop from CD and it is extracting the base system at around 4 KB/sec. Seems very slow to me, any thoughts?

That's pretty awful. Is your disk controller supported?

FreeBSD/i386 6.2-RELEASE Hardware Notes

In any case, you might consider sending that one to freebsd-questions. There are some folks who hang around that list who might have ideas/suggestions.

If you want to pursue that, read the following carefully:

How to get best results from the FreeBSD-questions mailing list

(especially point #6 "How to submit a question")

Good luck.

I would think it's supported because I am getting data transfer... just very slow. (I'm still staring at it transfering after a day) but who knows. Thanks for the sources, I may end up asking on the list.
