FreeBSD mascot to be replaced

I just read this on Slashdot:
http://bsd.slashdot.org/bsd/05/02/09...?tid=152&tid=7

What do all you *BSDers think? Personally, I think the FreeBSD daemon is appropriate and should not be changed. I don't really see a need for FreeBSD to be "politcally correct" in what logo it uses.

If you want, you can sign the petition to save Beastie:

I don't see the point in changing it either. Linux has a logo displaying a fat and confident-looking penguin (I love it) and is awesomely wide accepted. Changing the logo of FreeBSD doesn't improve the OS or make it more accepted. OK, maybe if the demon was displayed on it mutilating a nose ape, it would help spreading it by changing the logo. But the FreeBSD logo is alright, and politically correct IMO.

I don' t like boring logos which, for example, display nothing but a black rectangle with colored rectangles in it, or for colored rectangles tiled and displayed in 3D, or whatever comes next. I thing the managers don't like these, too.

I hate religious fanatics. The current mascot is very funny and very representative.
