    BSD.........kinda sounds like a drug.

    Anyway I was wondering what every BSD is used for. Or which one you might consider the best.

    Generally,

    FreeBSD = performance
    OpenBSD = security
    NetBSD = portability

    Those are extreme generalizations though. FreeBSD is probably the best for a BSD newbie. But go to each of the BSDs website to learn more. Just <name of BSD>.org

    And yes, BSD is a drug

    BSD/OS - assume you mean BSDi, which costs like $800 - "the redhat of the BSDs". you prolly don't want that
    DragonflyBSD - a fork from FreeBSD 4.x, still in heavy development

    Most people just use F, O, or NBSD though. Only crazy people use the other ones.
