Apparently, this site has experienced a data crash?
It seems that all of the old messages have disappeared since the last time that I signed into the forum.

Nope, more than likely your preferences are set to only show messages as old as the forum default. You can change this in your "User CP", under "Edit Options" and "Thread Display Options".
