Hi,

I bought "ElonexOnet" in ebay, but what I received was "ElonexOne+" and there is no SD card slot for distributions like MX3.
Although I'm complaining about this to the seller, if this works well, it is fine.
This laptop is ****ing slow! I can't even open a file!
I looked for a alternative os, but since this computer is uk only, there were not many infomation.

I found out that it can boot from usb; but only for its recovery. cannot boot puppy or else.
This is just an idea but, if an usb is disguised as a recovery, is it possible to install other linux??

I'm totally new to Linux. I got no idea about computing.
But is it possible?
It might also be helpful for other ElonexOne user if there is an alternative.

PLEASE help me.

Ok all here is my problem. My dell e1505 is on its last leg and im looking to get a laptop that's very linux compatible out of the box. I ran the e1505 with ubuntu 8.04. Only problem was it was a pain to get the dell wireless which was a broadcom 41xx?? i do don't remember the model but the drivers did work but poor and a pain to set up. also it had ant ati x1400 mobile which was a pain to setup too. once setup and working loved this little box these past couple years.

So im looking for a laptop around $800 or so that supports lnux out of the box well. Minimal setup is preferred but i will go through the work if their is good driver support.

If no one can come up with good solution i might just go macbook for $999 but am curious what is the unix it runs? is it BSD?

Any thoughts or suggestions?? Im open to other distros of linux such as Open Suse, fedora, and open solaris, or debian if ubuntu isn't the way to go with new laptops. I guess im just used to running it.

Thank you,

Well my 5th Eee PC 901 has just developed another fault in it's keyboard so I'm sending it back for a refund. It's a shame because I really tried to like the Eee but I think they have a design fault in their keyboards

So, I'm looking to get a different notebook. I'm after one with a good battery life (5 hours+) as I'm going to South Africa for a month at Christmas and need it for the flight and so I can download my images off of cameras when I'm at a game reserve where it'll be likely that I wont get much access to power supplies

Any ideas on note books to look for or beware of?

I intend to buy a used laptop shortly. The devices I will attach are currently using parallel port and USB on my desktop.
I don't know what was on a mid to hi end laptop 2 years or so ago in the way of ports. Would someone comment on that please?
Is the PCMCIA still being used to attach different devices?
Are there more than one type of USB port and if so which has the best support for now and into the immediate future?
What was the speed of a mid range laptop 2 years ago?
Will I need a serial port to use my 56KB modem?
Thanks this will help some towards selecting from what is available.

Hi!! I'm very new in Linux I installed yesterday in my Acer Aspire One AO751h (1gb ram, intel atom 1.33 mhz, GMA500 graphics) the Ubuntu Remix 9.04. I have several problems with video streaming (avi, mkv, mp4). I tried of course downloading VLC player, Mplayer, all codecs I found but the moviese freezes, I don't know what to do.

I'm worry about the configuration of drivers or something like that, I recently configured GMA500 problems with Compiz using info I found in websites (but I can't post the link here at the moment) and maybe I broke something... I don't know how to start, so I need your help. Sorry for my bad english and thanks!!
