I run a site of converting from youtube (FLV to mp3) , when the ffmpeg start working it takes 100% from 1 core of the cpu and its unable to surf on the site , i already gave the ffmpeg &quot;nice -n 19&quot; but it still unable to surf on the site while the ffmpeg runs , what can i do about that ? is there a way to give the ffmpeg 2 cores and the web server (apache,mysql,phpmyadmin,proftpd) on the system 2 cores ? <br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Well I have been running debian on a desktop for about a year or so now, I just installed it a month or so back on my IBM T43 laptop. Its been working good and now for the past week or so my X-windows been crashing.  I cannot pen point what is doing it as it will happen at any time, when it does happen the video will go away and flash a few times then i will see some code running on the screen and once all the flutter stops i get an box saying X has crashed and cannot be restarted and once i hit ok i get a login prompt like am in command mode.<br />

I've done 'apt-get source asterisk', and it says it's applying the diff file.  I can see the &quot;debian&quot; directory under the /asterisk-1.4.21.2~dfsg/, but when I compile the program the patches don't seem to be applied.  Am I missing a big step?<br />

I need some advice on building a machine with very low resurces.<br />
Basically I have an old pc, that doesn't want to die.<br />
So, I want to install a Linux version on it, and use it for:<br />
1. web surfing (yahoo mail, ebay, messenger)<br />
2. pdf reader<br />
3. document reader (word, excel)<br />
4. music player (this can be omitted, is not so important)<br />
<br />
The old pc is an Intel P3, 400MHz, 64 RAM (PC133), 10G hard drive.<br />
<br />
I can not get more RAM in it, because the bios won't accept it. I have a 128mb memory stick (pc133) right now in it, but the bios only recognizes 64mb. I tried updating the bios, but I couldn't. <br />
So I need to install a very small Linux distro that will give me only what I need. The problem is my wife will be using it daily, and she needs a GUI. She can't work from shell command.<br />
<br />
Any suggestions for such system?<br />
<br />
I could try and teach her how to use the shell command. But I need to know myself how to access the internetand documents from it. And if I get to the internet from shell, how do I get a mouse to work?<br />

Your system may boot OK the first time, but when your kernel is upgraded, it will become un-bootable.&quot; So yes, my system did boot OK the first time after running fsck for my home and root partitions (both use LVM) however when I attempted the commands that follow the quote above, it did not work and now when I boot Squeeze it gives me a grub console if that's what it's called. Fortunately, it looks fixable, I just don't know how to fix it and I would appreciate it if someone could give me the command(s) that would rescue my system :). (make grub2 boot my operating systems again)<br />

I made a document in my Mint partition using open office version 3 and saved it in my storage bin.<br />
After sending the same document by email using my debian lenny, the receivers found no figures in the tables (i was sending a statement of account for collection purposes)<br />
<br />
I checked and opened the documents through my Mint, and found that everything is there.<br />
I opened the same documents using Debian Lenny and the figures really do not show.<br />
<br />
So I think the problem lies with my encoding the figures using a new version (3) of open office and then sending it using an older version (2.4).<br />
<br />
May I please ask for help how I can upgrade my open office in lenny to version 3 and above please? And perhaps also make an upgrade of most of the softwares I have in lenny.<br />

I have fully reinstalled all my distros and got the wireless and flash player working.<br />

Now I am looking forward to this long desire of learning how to install XP in a virtual machine in Debian.<br />
<br />
I learned that if I put XP in a &quot;sandbox&quot; or a VM? not quite sure, I will also be protecting my system in case of another virus problem. I heard this will make XP run a little slower but frankly, I don't mind since I am not a gamer and I will just use it only if somebody wants to borrow my laptop and only knows how to use windows. (XP) For browsing and emails and some of those basic stuffs.<br />

May I request for guidance on how I can achieve this please?<br />

Its 4 Debian machines on a single switch that is able to communicate via routing and a couple of virtual network interfaces.<br />

I have got ipsec and openvpn to work all in basic client to client configurations or client to server. I cannot for the life of me get them to work in network to network configuration. My latest effort consists of ipsec-tools.conf on Host C<br />

I have also tried to use: spdadd 10.0.64.0/24 10.0.62.0/24 any -P fwd ipsec instead of out because of my current routing rules. I am pretty confused on this issue. I really believe its my routing thats killing me here. On Host B I have the exact configuration but is mirrored. If someone has any ideas I am all ears!! By the way the main tutorials I have been using are:<br />
