i just figured people of this day and age could walk to work, go without a meal or two a day or even get a second job just to be able to afford the high speed.

Actually, believe it or not, some of us still don't even have access to high speed, whether or not we can afford the difference. We could get satellite, I think, but that's REALLY expensive. DSL and cable are not even available where I live (too rurual).

too bad i'm not hte cable guy or i'd start a movement to get cable and high speed everywhere.

Hear hear. We can't get DSL or cable TV where I'm at either. I too have looked into the satellite thing but damn... it's like $1100 just to get the thing installed, PLUS the monthly charge for the service. Dialup is our only viable option.
