Oh aye! I remember now. The good old days.

Ah... no wonder I could see the little penguins so vividly in my mind!

So much for that original idea.

Yes, I looked forward to getting a penguin too. And now, when I've finally made it, they don't have them any more. Boohoo!

Maybe just labelling everyone as "member" will be ok. I have noticed many Linux sites are getting rid of titles such as newbie, guru etc.

I guess this happens to forums that member just "post" to raise their post count.

Only Core Wizard has the permissions needed to make such changes, so in the end it would all be up to him.

I would love that. Penguins for our ranks, LOL!

I think I would consider myself beyond the newbie level. However, I tend to take note to people who have been on a forum a long time yet only respond once in a great while to select threads/posts. I tend to find credibility in what they have to say. I think I do remember the penguin ranking, though.

“Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something.” - Plato

I know forums that ban people for not saying something important, worthy, and helpful within each post.
They're elite forums but strict nonetheless. That system makes sure people don't rack up large post counts.

I've found a way to increase my post-count with a clear conscience. I just click on "unanswered posts" each time I visit and look for anything that I know (or can easily find) the answer to. That's something that really gives me a kick.
