Most Online Visitors: a new record

Just curious if anyone knows what happened that gave the forum the new record for 'most online visitors' that was set a couple of weeks back?

Most users ever online was 12,074, 2 Weeks Ago at 01:50 AM.
If I remember correctly, that breaks the previous record by a HUGE amount. The time of day for which the new record was set seems a bit odd, too.

Could it be that the 'install .bin file' thread previously discussed in this forum is still gathering enough hits/visitors to set a new record? If so, it still seems like something very strange is going on with that thread.

Maybe someone hacked the user account database and was scraping information from the forums?

I don't know what was going on that night. But you're right... the previous record was upwards of about 2500 visitors.

The install .bin file thread is still garnering quite a few views, but it's been going up at a fairly steady pace. No real jumps in the number of daily views.
It's an interesting little puzzle, to say the least.

Could be... it was stuck at around 2500 users for quite some time (months and months), but then suddenly it jumps to over 5 times that amount all at once.

It seems that something strange might be going on...

    It looks like botnets only.

Below are statistics of another Forum.

Earlier record was around 3200+ users only and its 13,313 now.

Well, in any case, it sounds like someone is trying to pwn the forums... Hope you can shut it down!

Hopefully, the vBulletin developers will create a separate count statistic for botnets because as it is now, "most users ever online" is very highly misleading to LinuxForums.org visitors if 10,000 out of the 12,000 logged weren't real users.

Thanks for looking into it, guys!

I say this because of "Error #1
    SQL requests not achieved"

    "SQL injection + DDoS attacks[5]"

Right now Puppy Forums is down.
