The banner definately should be on top, either above the LFDO banner or below it. I hate to see the wasted space caused by sidebar advertising. Hopefully, the content of the adverts will be more or less relevant, like that add for "Linux Pocket Guide". That can actually be a service for some readers, IMO.

This size is much better I also agree with the other moderator that the ad as a header would look bad.

I like the placement below the header, I don't really get the fuss about size, since its just a horizontal bar, its an extra second of scroll, but perhaps we can just make it so links to forum topics jump to first post of the list as opposed to top of page.... it might be too much work to revisit all the pages, but might be a nice middle ground on ad-revenue vs ease of use/interface.

I too understand the need to pay your bills, but think the new ads are intrusive. The previous ones were smaller and not at the top of the page. I preferred that personally.

I think the banner at the top is a great idea. However when on my laptop (max Res. 800X600) I now need to scroll left right when inside a section not on the main page not on the formus page and not when reading posts only when viewing the topic page.

On IE viewtopic doesnt work properly at 800x600.

Some of you may have noticed the Amazon ad's have now disappeared.. As noted in the first post, they were an experiment and have given me lots of stuff to think about. The Amazon ads will be gone fort the time being, I may try something slightly different next week, if i do i'll keep you all posted.

    Cheers,

    Jason
