.org vs .com
Just a quick question to anyone that can answer...
Are we officially linuxforums.com or linuxforums.org, now?
I do understand that either link will work, but I see that .com is what comes up in the browser location bar, so I'm assuming that when we refer someone to the site, we should use .com?
- 12-19-2005 #2I've tried the .org but a message says that the request made for linuxforums.org does not exist anymore bla bla bla.

both URLs work, the website can be used and browsed using both URLs.
- 12-19-2005 #4Yes, but I believe he was asking as to what name we should officially refer to the site.

Hey, I'm fine, mouradb, thanks for asking. Regarding the .org address not working... either address works for me. Maybe try clearing your browser cache to see if that helps any.

Re:
well even I'm trying with conqueror I get the same message,
There is no website configured at this address.
You are seeing this page because there is nothing configured for the site you have requested. If you think you are seeing this page in error, please contact the site administrator or datacenter responsible for this site.
I guess the problem is in my side if you access to the forum with both addresses.

And the LinuxForums.com database was dropped since it was causing a lot of problems in the move.
Sorry.

So, for instance... if you were to create an ad for the site, you'd use both links in the advertisement? It still seems that you'd refer to it as one or the other for advertisement purposes, and not both. Again, I understand that it can be reached by either link.

It's not all that important. I just figured the "official title" of the site was LinuxForums.com, since linuxforums.com is what comes up in the location bar regardless of which one you enter.
Hope all that makes sense.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
