another one that is from ID but not doomlike, is quakewars (technicaly the engine is from ID, the game is from splash damage.)

it is a multiplayer game (you can do SP with bots, though it's just not the same) that plays like battlefield, but is more feature rich then 1942, and less buggy then 2 (never played 2142.) it has a free demo, you should check it out.
