Sound doesn't work in Enemy Territory
Hey, I run Debian (sarge) with a 2.6.8 kernel and Enemy Territory works perfect execpt for the sound. When it loads up I get this:
------- sound initialization -------
------------------------------------
----- Sound Info -----
sound system is muted
1 stereo
32768 samples
16 samplebits
1 submission_chunk
48000 speed
0x48730000 dma buffer
No background file.
----------------------
and theres no sound. Sound works for everything else, just not ET. Does anyone know how i could fix this?

Run as normal user
Hello,
This thread has been really useful for me. But there is still one problem. I have to run that command as root every time I want to play ET. That's as good as running as root. Please suggest me a solution so that I can play ET + sound with a single icon-click.

I'm kinda panicy right now. After doing the above commands in Ubuntu[Dapper Drake], I no longer can become su. I tried restarting a couple times. I can't become su. It just says "Authentication Failed." I'm entering valid password and caps aren't on.
Is there any relation or is this some freak zombie system?

you should post a new topic about it, but i'll answer because i'm nice

in ubuntu you don't use su, you use sudo, like so:
then enter your own password.Code:sudo command
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

09-19-2006 #10I used to be able to use SU. Sorry, I'm used to Fedora.
