I can't seem to play DVDs using mplayer (or gmplayer). The weird thing is, they play perfectly using Kaffeine. I've updated to latest version of mplayer and still no luck. There's an error that the it can't acces the disc with a (vo_) after it. I've found nothing searching for a solution. Even more bizzare is that after I get the error, I can't play DVDs using Kaffeine until I quit both of them. Kaffeine gives me the old NAV Packet error, but when I restart, it works again.

Any ideas?

You did set the correct dvd device for mplayer right? remember, it defaults to /dev/dvd

Yes, it's set to /mnt/cdrom, which is the dvd player.

maybe you should try re-installing the dvd libs, other than that, that is a very strange problem.

I installed re-installed the libdvdcss, then I installed an rpm, then I compiled and installed, then I went back to the Mandrake RPM's. Everytime, same exact thing. Could it somehow be the hardware?
