Age of Empires 2 : The Conquerors Expansion runs on Linux!!!

I think many people will be happy to hear this

Actually I found this thread on linuxquestions.org :

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...26#post1790126

The only problem is that I don't have FC2 at the moment nor do I know which version of wine shipped with it. It will take me a couple of days to get FC2. If some one who has both the game and the OS can check it I would love to hear. Otherwise I'll post my results in a few days.

Does that mean it only works on that version of wine then, in that case get that version of wine instead of the whole distro

Well yes that should do it. This is the original thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...58#post1790658

I checked whether there was any version of wine shipped with FC2 but I found nothing. So now I'll wait a bit and see how this thing goes, then I'll install it.

Btw, are you an AoE fan?

Yes it is. I don't like the screenshots I've seen though. I loved the graphics of AoE2, the perfect graphics IMO, and I can't understand why every game has to have 3D graphics nowadays.

As for my original post, I found out that FC2 did not ship with wine, but I know that the version of wine needed to play AoE2 is a 2004 version. I posted that on linuxquestions and now I'm waiting for a reply.

My colleague was running Half Life under linux with winex, with display exported to other host where X server was running on windows, and the other colleague actually played it on that windows machine. This is cool!
