Applying MIC working fix of alsa-driver to Sigmatel controller(922x)

Hi,

I have a Sigmatel Audio controller STAC 922X; my MIC is not working. I have tried the latest alsa-driver also.(alsa-driver-1.0.15rc1)
OS: RHEL 4 WS UP4

Just googled and found that below link:
ALSA-Kernel Repository (alsa-kernel): changeset 4539:485d967b52ab

It shows that their is a fix or patch to make it work. But the real problem is that how to do it? Any ideas. Any one who have done these alsa stuff can suggest the way.

Pls help guys..

My objective is to make MIC working in the Sigmatel 922X audio controller.

Mbd: Intel Q965GF
OS: RHEL 4.0 WS UP4

If anybody has solution let me know.

I might be able to help, but I use Ubuntu 7.04. My laptop has sigmatel listed but it wouldn't work, so I just tried different settings till I got it right.

My settings are as follows:
I went to the volume icon in my system tray, right clicked and selected volume control. In the volume control window I selected "edit", "preferences", and put check marks in all the options so I could see all the options. (master, pcm,capture mux, capture, mic)

Now I just turned on everything and set the volume to max on everything.

I then went to "file" and chose "change device". from sigmatel stac9200 OSS to HDA Intel ALSA.

now I went to "system", "preferences", "sound". In Ubuntu there are tests for each option.

Sound Events= Autodetect
Music/ Movies=Autodetect

Audio Conferencing= ALSA and ALSA

Default Mixer Tracks= HDA Intel (Alsa mixer)


I hope this helps somewhat and wasn't too elementary. Also make sure your system is updated..
