If you have Amarok and transcode, you can use the transKode script to convert and retag the files for you.

Hi. What Linux distribution are you using (and desktop environment if you know it). Applications like Xine, VLC and MPlayer can be used for multimedia playback.

There's no "linux format" for movies. Linux plays mpeg, avi, wmv, and all the other major video formats, provided you have the correct codecs installed. I use xine to play all my movies, and there are many plugins (codecs) for it to play whatever format you need.how on earth can convert from mpeg,avi,etc to linux format
