I installed the latest version of wine, then installed starcraft broodwar, got it up and running however there were two issues that I could not fix. The first was that when I tried to get a LAN game going (using udp) with a couple of friends, I could not see the game that they created, but they could see the game I created; however, they could not join the game I created. The second issue, whether or not it relates to the UDP problem is that BNET crashes wine when I try to use it.

Things of note:
I successfully updated starcraft to the latest version
I turned off my firewall
using fedora core 9 64 bits on an acer ferrari laptop
