Stereo Mix Recording in Linux
I am trying to record some sounds off my computer. But I can't do it with audacity because I can't figure out how to record the output of what is being played. In Windows, I just had to set the recording to Stereo Mix. In linux, I can only find microphone and a bunch of other things I don't understand, but none of them work. How can I play record something in audacity off of say, YouTube?
Using Linux since June 2007
Distros: Mint 12
SPECS: AMD Atholon 64 X2 5400+, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800 GTS

if you want to record off youtube, there are better methods (try and google around for "download youtube video"). if you're sure the only method to get audio is by playing it back and recording the audio being played back, check this: ALSA project - the C library reference: PCM (digital audio) plugins
and then make sure alsa plays back to that plugin.
