I recently upgraded my video card to a Geforce 6800 and as a matter of course I tend to run every game I have to see the performance difference.
The only trouble I've run into (aside from the fact that SaX2 doesn't know what card I have so I have to tell it I'm using a 5900 Ultra) is when I start up the UT2004 Demo and try to load a map (any map), the loading screen comes up and then nothing happens. My system isn't freezing, as I'm able to CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE out of X and log back in.
After the second time this happened I decided to look at my dmesg output, which gives me something like this (sorry not exact):
NVagp not in use! sis_agpgart in use instead!
This type of error message displays several times. I've checked my loaded modules, and "sis_agpgart" AND "nvidia" modules are indeed both loading. Here's the specs of the system I'm trying this on:
AMD Athlon XP 2700+
1GB PC2100 RAM
nvidia Geforce 6800
Gigabyte GA-7S748-L with sis748 chipset
Memorex 8X DVD+/-R/RW
SuSE 9.1 Pro
I don't get this error with Quake 3 or Neverwinter Nights, just UT2004. I haven't tried UT2003 yet (though I have it) so that might be my next test. Any ideas?Registered Linux user #270181
