Sound problems with ubuntu 8.10
Hi all
o.k heres my problem I have just upgraded from 8.04 and with that i had to run OSS4 (which that never worked properly) and now it is back with ALSA and no sound yet again. I am after a decent fix thats going to let me hear and use my sound chip (mic and headphones included) the chipset is Intel HD Audio Realtek ALC889 if that helps, these are the things i've checked:
- opened ALSA mixer and checked that nothing is muted and levels are at max
- stopped PulseAudio and did a force restart of ALSA
these are the only possible fixes that I can find on the net
also does anyone know if skype has a 64-bit version as I have tried to download install it but refuses as the OS is not i386??
is there anyone out there that can answer this?
