I have a cowon d2 and happy to report that It's plug and play (SD card included) on my eee pc running ubuntu 8.10. it plays .ogg and .flac . Sound quality is great, with a nice little touch screen. The overall usability and UI is not quite at the ipod level unfortunately. Possibly not perfect for children for that reason
