Help playing a split track CD or editing the files

I am looking for a way to play just the music, not lyrics on a split track CD. VLC works, but there is a small skip inbetween each track. Is there a way to turn that off, or is there a better media player for this, or should I download the files off of the disc onto my pc, and merge them all together with audacity? Thanks for the help in advance.

Aqualung boasts

It plays audio CDs, internet radio streams and podcasts as well as soundfiles in just about any audio format and has the feature of inserting no gaps between adjacent tracks.

Haven't tried it myself.

I tried it out, it is gapless, but I can't split it to play only the music.
