I'm attempting to convert a soft-subbed file into a hard-subbed file. Now, I generally suck at re-encoding, so I figured I may as well simply record the file playing with the subs on. Trouble is, Istanbul doesn't record any of the sound.

It plays, just not in the ogg that's outputted. I've tried switching the sound settings to ALSA, and to OSS, but neither works. I've also tried extracting the audio directly using AVIDemux, but I have no idea how to put that back into the file itself...

Anyone know what to do, or a way to convert an mkv into an avi with hard subs*?
