I've been looking around for something that might fit this bill, but I need to get a bunch of .wmv (Windows Media Video) files into .mpeg .avi .mov or summin similar (a raw DV stream is fine as well, or even .omg, as Im using Avid) I don't wanna pay the incredable liscencing fees for the full decrypt codec, does anyone know of a program for linux that might be able to handle this? backwords enginnering perhaps? i wouldn't post a question so windowsey on any other forum, but I can't control what format my smaller clients send me data in....... (anyone whos serious about video would never touch a .wmv, but the guy with his Windows Movie Maker is so excited by the idea.....)
reguardless, any help is appreciated.

perhaps try mencoder, which comes with most mplayer installations. i like it, but it's rather advanced since it's command line driven
