Dumb DVD question
I am working on setting up my new Linux box. I am going to install a TV tuner card so I can capture video and record it to DVD. I don't really need PVR functions as far as timed recording on a set channel and such, but I do want to record some shows and keep them.
So, the question is, how does one record video and transfer it to a medium that is playable in a standard DVD player? When a DVD is burned this way, is a region code imparted or will it be region free?
Actually TIVO-like functionality would be great, but I am setting this up to use in Japan off a SkyPerfecTV box, so I have no idea of the technical problems involved with that....
TIA,

There's a neat little Tivo-like Linux distro called KnoppMyth (its only about 500megs) and is available from:

As for the dvd burning, i dont think it'll be region-encoded...
hope i could help
