Hit "Run Application..." and enter xmms
That should run it.Emotions are the key to the soul.

Can't you just right click and select "Open File..." ?

can you get any sound at all to work?
also xmms-kde-3.1 just means the package was compiled for KDE 3.1,
xmms-1.2.10 is probably the same program.
Also make sure you didn't mute the sound, that you clicked play, and that the none of the sound settings are all the way down.Emotions are the key to the soul.

Once you opened the file, yes, it should play automatically.
As for audio CDs, you need to make sure the analog audio cable is hooked up between your soundcard and the cd drive.Emotions are the key to the soul.

but it doesn't. so there's something that i didn't do. when i try to play a cd, it brings up the cd player and it starts playing, but no sound. i go to the next track and i get a little static, and that's it. so then i tried an mp3 and i can't get that to work either. what should i do?

Maybe you need to install the mp3 library available here.
Install that along with xmms from the same place xmms
FreshRPMs which is where those links go, also carries a number of other useful RPMs for Fedora Core.
It might just be easier to install this RPM, and then open a terminal and enter:
That should install xmms and all the things needed to run it automatically.Code:yum install xmms.i386
