    Question Kazam + Pulseaudio problems

Hello. Let me tell you the story of my problems with Kazam.

One day I installed Kazam in order to record my screen. The image capture was fine, but the audio quality was bad. So I bought a better microphone.

The new microphone, while much better for using with other programs (like Audacity) has a USB input instead of 3.5 mm, and some programs like Firefox and, yes, Kazam, did not recognize it. So I had to install Pulseaudio volume control and configure it so that my new microphone is used to record audio for each application.

Now Firefox recognizes my microphone, as does Audacity, but Kazam has an even bigger problem: every time I try to stop recording, it freezes! So I cannot, in fact, record anything at all. I tried reinstalling Kazam. It did not help.

I tried running Kazam in debug mode and got the following output:

At that point, it freezes and does nothing else. It never shows me the options window again, and I can't even close it unless I kill the process.

I will appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.

Edit: if I set up Pulseaudio Volume Control to use the monitor of the device rather than the device itself, then I can stop recording and save a file, but I cannot reproduce it. All I get is one second of silence, with no video, and Kazam cannot delete the temporary 0-byte .movie file.

What Linux distribution+version are you running? Kazam is an application, not the operating system. Since if you kill that process the system recovers, I have to think it is a Kazam issue.

As shown on the log, I am running Debian 8.7. Please try to at least read people's posts thoroughly before treating them like they're stupid.

I have a problem. I was hoping someone here could help me fix it. Nowhere in the forums does it say that you only provide help with OS issues and not with applications that run on Linux.

I'm still hoping someone else can help.

You have been here for 12 years and do not know how to use code tags? Not sure whether you are stupid or not, rude certainly. We are not paid help here, make it easy for your helpers and you will get better help.
I personally do not use PulseAudio (and other poetterisms). I prefer FFmpeg over GStreamer. I certainly would not use Kazam, I could not find the source code for it.

Edit: OK, this Kazam is nothing but a bunch of Python scripts. Still, PA is a requirement and this means it is not for me.

I honestly don't know what your problem is, but I'm not biting.

Fortunately, this is not the only forum on the Internet.
