Steam won't start games. Getting an Error.
Effectively, They are trying to play a game through steam called "Age of Empires 2: HD Edition".
Sadly, Every time they try to launch the game, It says "Game is Starting". That vanishes, Then the game never starts.
I will post the error code it gave below!

It's probably that the game code just isn't compatible with PlayOnLinux (which is basically a windows emulator). Some things aren't. From the error codes it looks like the GPU driver isn't being initialised correctly, would be my guess.
There is a native Steam client for Linux, but I had a quick look in mine and Age Of Empires isn't available on Steam for Linux.
Your friend might have more luck installing a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox, installing Windows 7 in that virtual machine, then installing Steam natively inside that.
Or alternatively, just dual-boot Windows with Linux. Unfortunately Linux hasn't completely caught up with Windows when it comes to gaming.

It is probably down to Wine configuration. I have that game in my Steam library and it works ok via Wine. I found that PlayOnLinux can make Wine config a bit confusing by having multiple versions. I think I ended up installing one Steam game via PlayOnLinux then actually just using that Steam installation to run all other games. Installing multiple Steam games using POL seemed to mess up my other Wine+Steam games... Thankfully now a lot of games have native Linux versions so rarely touch Wine.

i think you will need more access to the machine in question.
the first error:

keywords like p11-kit and gnome-keyring point to (linux internal) authentication utilities, "password managers".
maybe these packages need to be installed and made to work?
Oh! They also mentioned something about being on "Playonlinux".
please elaborate.

i don't understand.
are we still talking about the same machine, the same maybe steam, maybe playonlinux installation, the same game???

The game works from the native Steam client now that you can run Windows games with the new SteamPlay feature. I have found about 50% of Windows games are working this way so far...
