VLC has just “stopped” working
But when I open up vlc, and click on Media->Open Disk->Select DVD->Play, I get the following dialog box message:
Playback failure: DVDRead could not open the disc "/dev/sr0". Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///dev/sr0'. Check the log for details.
(This is what I got previously too)
I have also removed VLC and then reinstalled from scratch, but with the same problem.
Can anyone suggest a solution please?
Many thanks

Is your DVD even readable?
Code:file -s /dev/sr0

A lot of commercial DVD's are DRM-encumbered. Depending upon the disc, you may need to decrypt it with something like ffmpeg.

I downloaded and installed it directly from my Mint Synaptic package manager for my laptop. My workstation I downloaded and compiled the code for my CentOS server directly. I use it daily on both systems, both for audio and video.
